Each of the tiles is handmade, which allows for slight variation in shape, colour and texture. This artisanal process lends itself to a more sculptural approach to production, whereby I moulded the cut pieces seamlessly to the tile base. Clay being a natural resource only adds to the sinousity and flow of our tile, both in a conceptual, practical and visual manner.

Tiles Project

The shapes, motifs, and overall movement within the tile design are inspired by the natural flow of water, with careful consideration given to rainfall patterns and urban flooding. Throughout the process, I focused on how water would move through and interact with the tile, ensuring both function and intention were embedded in the design.

The aim was to create an effective solution to challenges such as urban flooding. This system is designed to slow down and filter water, while also supporting green habitats
